This is a brief post just to mention the website promotional potential of social bookmarking. There are several sites dedicated to this relatively new online phenomenom, the most popular being del.icio.us; digg; stumbleupon; reddit and technorati.

As with all website promotion, it’s all about gaining more visitors to your site. These social bookmarking sites allow you to register, or “tag” not only your website, but also each individual page and blog etc that is related tou your site (or sites). This provides your site not only with valuable backlinks, but also spreads the news about the very existence of your site.

The good part about all this is that you only need to get lucky once by attracting a big hitting visitor and that could mean a huge influx of new visitors to your site. Which is what you want, right?

Lots of visitors means lots of potential new customers which is good for your business.

So if you are wondering how to go about setting up social bookmarking as a source of potential new visitors to your site, I’ll make it easy for you by providing the links to the above social bookmarking sites:-

All you need to do is register with each site, then follow their simple instructions to get your site registered. Each one is slightly different, so I’ll give you the bare basics here – the rest you can do yourself as it really is quite easy.

del.icio.us – http://del.icio.us

Sign up and download the toolbar. Then all you do is bring up each page of your website and click the “tag” button. The page is tagged. Do it each time you update a page with new content.

stumbleupon – http://stumbleupon.com

Again, sign up and download the toolbar.

digg – http://digg.com

Sign up and verify your email. Then add your website url to yor profile. Then add your blog via the easy steps.

reddit – http://reddit.com

Sign up. Then you are able to submit your article via the submit panel for general viewing.

technorati – http://technorati.com

A little different in that technorati is biased towards blogs. Sign up and claim your blog by taking a piece of code which will be your profile eg: Technorati Profile, and paste it in a new post on your blog – like I’m doing right here!

This is only a brief overview as it’s quite a new thing for The Honest Way to be involved in, but as the results begin to show, there will be another post to update you.

Thanks for calling in!

A great way of generating traffic to your blog is to regularly update it with quality posts and then ping it to all the blog services. There are a number of free blog pinging services around and they all do pretty much the same job of alerting the blog services that your blog has been updated.

Over time, this will bring a number of curious blog readers to your blog. If they like what they see, they will come back often and that number will grow, raising the popularity of your blog.

One upside of this is of course the potential to generate an income from your blog. This can be done in a number of ways. For instance, you can directly monetise your blog by adding google adsense ads. You could also add affiliate links with some good ad copy and boost your sales of affiliate products.

Best of all is you can use the increased traffic to your blog to direct them to your website and increase visitors there. To get these visitors to go to your website you have to offer something that will interest them.

By posting on your blog a short but informative introduction to a well written article on your website can be just the thing to get their interest and have them clicking the link over to your site to read the main article. That’s where you will hopefully entice them to either sign up to your list or buy one of your well advertised affiliate products, or your own product if you are marketing one.

The Honest Way Blog Pinging Service

As part of The Honest Way‘s ongoing assistance to newcomers to the cut and thrust of the Internet Marketing world, we have added a special page to our website to enable you to ping your blog without having to leave the site. Just go to the homepage, click on the “Ping Blog” tab on the menu bar and you’ll be taken straight to our own custom blog pinging service. Just type in the name of your blog and it’s url and hit the “Ping the Empire” button.

Job done!

I hope this has added to your knowledge of Internet Marketing and Promoting your blog and website. Feel free to leave a comment if you want – we all need feedback and it will help to make this a better place.

Thanks for your visit and come again soon!

I just noticed that MyLot.com are allowing blog owners to link their blogs. For those of us with blogs attached to our own websites, that can only mean one good thing. Yep. Another backlink to add weight to the never ending quest for that decent search engine page ranking.

As part of the blog add-on process, you have to include a link in a post on your blog that MyLot can spider to verify you are the owner of the blog. Here it is:
myLot User Profile

It links to my MyLot profile, so I guess if you are really curious to see what I say about myself there you could click the link.

Of course, I’d rather you went and checked out my site for the really useful IM products I have, or to read some of my informational articles that I’ve put up for free, or even to visit my forum and if you’re not already a member, then to sign up and start posting quality stuff for the community to read.

That’s all I’m saying on the subject for now. Come back again soon for more info, updates and general IM promotional know-how.

Hi everyone,

This is a short note just to let you know that this poor old host has been having a few minor computer problems of late that have kept me offline over the last few days. Glitches in the works have caused a few problems that have now been sorted out, so I should be back to normal now.

My apologies to the members of the forum for not being there but if you take a look now, you’ll see I’ve posted a couple of replies already.

Which leads me nicely onto forums. I’m a member of quite a few different forums as I enjoy participating and they’re great places to learn the tricks of the trade as well as to keep up to date with what’s happening in the world of Internet Marketing.

They also give me a chance to promote this site, blog and forum via links in my signatures and hopefully tempt new readers to this blog and new members to The Honest Way Forum. There is a section for articles and in there is an article I wrote a short while ago on the benefits of forums. So if you’re reading this and you haven’t been over to see the forum yet, why not follow one of the links and sign up today. There is already a nice group of people there and it’s growing all the time.

See you there!
