Competitions

Wonders will never cease to amaze me! Today has been a perfectly normal online working day for me with lots of things to write, as well as some things to get paid to write about. Then I decided to drop in on Monika’s The Writer’s Manifesto Blog as I’m often seen to do.

There was her latest a post, a video clip!

It was a few moments before it clicked exactly what the video was about and I wasn’t even going to look at it - as I initially thought it was just a cheeky way of avoiding writing a post for today! But curiosity got the better of me and I started to watch it… and blow me if her husband John didn’t pull a slip of paper out of the bag with my name on it! He held it up to the camera so there could be no mistake.

Hang on, I thought, it can’t be me - we’re JV partners and anyone else would think it was a fiddle!

No, maybe it was another Terry and he or she is sitting at home thrilled to bits at winning $100.

So I posted a cheeky comment saying as much (but I hedged my bets and thanked her and everyone else for their congrats just in case…)

…and got back to work. The subject of today’s post, in fact was going to be about my new niche website that I’ve just launched into cyberspace. It will have to wait until tomorrow now!

This one takes precedence!

Thank you Monika for running the contest, John for pulling my name out of the bag and all the other people who took part making it a resounding success for Monika and her blog and boosting her viewing figures in the process.

It’s a really great blog and if you want a good read, Monika is a really great writer who writes a heck of a lot of good stuff. So get over there and see for yourself!

…and NO, she is not paying me to write this!!!

The Honest Way has heard about another great contest for keen bloggers to enter.

Monika Mundell at The Writers Manifesto has announced her monthly competition for November, entitled the “Shake It Up Contest” and it sounds like being a winner for all who enter. Ok, there’s only one winner, but all contestants will benefit from a juicy bit of link love in the form of a free one-way link from a PR3 blog. Now that’s worth getting involved in never mind the chance at the $100 prize!

So how does this contest work?

Well, the it’s all about getting to know The Writers Manifesto and giving it some promotion of your own. The idea is for you to collect brownie points by doing one, some or all of the following:

  1. Make a 30 second video all about The Writers Manifesto blog and post it on your blog
  2. Make a 30 second video all about The Writers Manifesto blog and post it on YouTube
  3. Subscribe to The Writers Manifesto blog RSS feed
  4. Write a review on stumbleUpon for Monika’s profile
  5. Comment on her contest’s post

Each task carries one or more brownie points and the more points you collect, the more entries you’ll get into the contest. Simple!

So if you’re interested, head over to The Writers Manifesto blog right now to find out more - and enter her Shake It Up Contest!

I just heard about another great competition for bloggers everywhere to get involved with if they fancy their chances at winning a brand new iPod Nano. It’s as easy as this to enter:

If you’re not already a member at the WhyDoWork forum, click this link to join for free.

This is one of the best online forums for people interested in working from home online and has a wealth of information within it’s massive database of articles. The members are friendly and helpful - in fact this was the first forum I joined when I got started in this business and it definitately saved me from being innocently sucked into some pretty convincing online scams at the time.

Once you’re a member and have introduced yourself in the “Introductions” section (very important), then you can head on down to the Forum Announcements section near the bottom of the page and find the post headed: WhyDoWork iPod Giveaway!

Of course, you can skip these steps and go straight for the blog, but I thought it would be a nice touch to join the forum too, because it’s such a great forum! (Can you tell that I have a soft spot for the place?)

Alternatively, you could just head straight for the WhyDoWork Blog and read about the contest there.

The rules are simple and as I already mentioned, it’s easy to enter.

Simply subscribe to their RSS feed and then blog about the competition (just like I’m doing right here, right now) including a link to the competition post.

Please don’t copy my post, as you should always use your own words to promote this competition. And remember (if you didn’t already know this), the search engines hate duplicate content and will penalize your site if you have any on there.

Here’s to your success!

Since my recent slice of good luck in an online competition, I’ve been keeping my eyes open for more that interest me. I found another one that did just that.

Monika is running a nice competition over at The Writers Manifesto especially for bloggers but anyone who loves to write can enter. All you do is write a post that is a tutorial. It doesn’t matter what the tutorial is about - your choice - it just has to be in the format of a tutorial and of course be accurate as well as interesting!

It runs until midnight (PST) on 20th October 2007, when the competition will close and all the blogger who entered get to choose who they think wrote the best tutorial. The person with the most votes from all the other contestants wins the $50 first prize.

Sound like something that might interest you?

Click the link above. I have a hankering to have a go myself!
