Motivation

Looks like I started something with that “Thought if the Day”. I should have added a little more to it to clarify exactly what I was getting at, because I got some comments and emails from people who were a bit perplexed by it all.

The main point I was trying to get across was that by clearing your head of the mindset that you will only ever be what you are because that’s the way you are, you set in motion a series of events within you that will enable you to look at yourself in a new light.

To give you a personal example of what I mean, it hit me a while ago that I was merely living day to day and not really getting anywhere. I was reasonably content with my life, but that was all. I realized that I needed more in my life or it would pass me by and I’d be drawing my retirement pension looking back and thinking, “So what did I actually DO with my life?”

That may never happen to most people, as they may never have seen that there is anything different. So when they hit their retirement, they look back and can say with believe that they’ve had a good life. That’s fair enough and for most people it’s all they ever wanted out of life, so there are no regrets.

Maybe it’s just me and a small percentage of people with a similar mindset that tells us that what we have is NOT enough and that there is much more that we can achieve if only we knew how to do it.

We look at successful people not with envy, but with longing to achieve the same success.

Some of us do something about it and some of us don’t. The ones who don’t are the ones who will hit retirement and feel they wasted their lives. Others, like me and I’d hanker a guess that many forward thinking Internet Marketers are of a similar belief, are the ones that have got off their backsides and said to themselves “I CAN make a difference to my life.”

I believe that through my own hard work coupled with my belief in myself and my abilities, that I can break out of the mundane comfort zone of life and lift myself up by my bootstraps. I’ve set myself a very high goal and believe with a positivity that is absolute that I will achieve it. I will achieve that goal through my own hard work and determination.

To that end, I haven’t set any time limit, because I also know my own limitations and know myself well enough not to restrict myself in any way by enforcing any limits. That way, my own creativity and positive determination have combined to form a force for success that is unstoppable.

Get that belief into your head and nothing anyone else can say to you can dampen your belief.

Sure, there will be people aplenty who will try to knock you back by saying, “You’ll never make any money doing that…” or “Why don’t you get yourself a real job like so-and-so…” and negative stuff like that. Or they’ll simply look at you as if you’ve got a screw loose when you explain to them what you’re out to achieve. Have too many people like that around you and you’ll find yourself drowning in a sea of negativity.

To that end, you may well find yourself ignoring negative people and gravitating towards other positive people. Because when you surround yourself with other “Can Do” types, positive people who will push you forward, you’ll be even more positive in yourself.

Once your mindset has been clicked into the right frame of positivity and belief in your ability to achieve your goal, then and only then can you set about making it happen. You’ll throw yourself into your work with an almost obsessive passion and nothing will dampen your spirits because you’ll know – and I mean really KNOW – that you are working towards your goal and that every day brings you a step closer to achieving it. And no one can tell you different!

So that’s the power of positive thinking and positive action combined to bring about success.

If you’re content with your life as it is, or your financial situation is comfortable, then don’t rock your boat because it’s not for you.

I’m not content with my financial situation and I’m changing it!

Here’s a tantalising “Thought of the Day” for The Honest Way readers.

Following on from my last post, imagine what it would actually feel like to be comfortably wealthy, with the total assurance that you will always be this way.

For a very tiny percentage of everyone on this planet, that is a reality. But does that mean that you have to be satisfied with anything less?

Not necessarily.

By doing things the right way and making some intelligent and informed decisions anyone can pull themselves out of the mundane world they live in and join the heady heights of “The High Life”.

So why don’t we?

The problem is that we’re all programmed to believe it simply isn’t possible to be anything other than what we are. What we believe shapes our lives.

Do you imagine that any one of the tycoons holidaying on their private yachts believe for one second that they shouldn’t have all that they have? Of course not. It is a way of life to them and anything different just doesn’t enter their heads. They aren’t any more intelligent than many of us. They just have a different mindset, or belief system that programs them for success.

So can anyone change their belief system and re-program themselves for success?

Absolutely. The most incredible realization is that what’s stopping everyone from doing just that is that their belief system also keeps them from believing it is possible to change. A double bind, in fact.

So first, to become successful enough to be able to retire young, wealthy and live ever after in abundance, you have to believe you can change your set of beliefs in yourself and abilities. Only then can you truly believe that you can have everything you ever wanted and it will come easily. Once that system starts to reshape itself, your success will swiftly follow, because what your mind can conceive – when you believe - you can achieve!

Now that’s a humdinger of a “Thought of the Day”!

Sometimes we all get a little worn out when we’re stuck in front of the computer for several hours at a stretch and as a consequence, our blog posts run the danger of becoming jaded and flat.

I know I’m just as guilty especially when I combine offline work and online work by following one straight after coming home from the other without a proper break! These are the times when the working day can start very early in the morning and continue on until well after midnight.

Well you won’t be too surprised to learn that a blog post written just before calling it a night after one of those days stands a very good chance of being ever so slightly under par!

Well, to get yourself back in the swing of things and recharge those motivation batteries a good nights sleep is not only mandatory, but positively necessary! Too many long days combined with not enough sleep can spell disaster for any writer or blogger.

So be kind to yourself and every now and then make a point of switching the computer off a couple of hours this side of midnight for a change and go to bed early! And I don’t mean go swich on the TV either - that’s almost as bad as staying in front of the computer (and a whole lot less productive).

Here’s to your continued good health and a good nights sleep every so often!

What keeps you going?

What makes you press on when things seem to be getting on top of you?

Sometimes, throughout our working day we hit certain blocks and have to sit back and simply close our eyes and chill for a few minutes before carrying on. I know that when I’ve been sitting here in front of this things for several hours writing furiously away a point is reached when I simply have to stop and get up and walk around. Maybe go into the garden and potter around for a while, or take the dogs out for a walk! Anything to take my mind off what I was doing long enough for the energy and enthusiasm to return.

Then it’s into the kitchen to make a cup of green tea and back to the familiar corner, into the well worn but comfy chair (so necessary when you spend most of the day in it) and straight back on the keypad and mouse!

Revived, revitalised and ready to carry on creating inspired and thought-provoking scribblings!

But what drives me on more than anything is the goal. My goal. To make this a completely self-sufficient business where I don’t have to rely on the odd offline job to make ends meet. To be in the position where my blogs and affiliate sites can make money consistently enough to call it a full time occupation. To that end, I’ll spend as many hours in front of this thing as it takes to get there.

So if you ever find yourself losing heart, or becoming impatient for things to start happening - take a break from the computer, clear your thoughts by doing something else for a while, then come back ready to pick up where you left off and keep your goal in mind.

Because the only way you’ll achieve it is to work for it.

Just remember to come up for air every once in a while!
