Motivation

Sometimes we all get a little worn out when we’re stuck in front of the computer for several hours at a stretch and as a consequence, our blog posts run the danger of becoming jaded and flat.

I know I’m just as guilty especially when I combine offline work and online work by following one straight after coming home from the other without a proper break! These are the times when the working day can start very early in the morning and continue on until well after midnight.

Well you won’t be too surprised to learn that a blog post written just before calling it a night after one of those days stands a very good chance of being ever so slightly under par!

Well, to get yourself back in the swing of things and recharge those motivation batteries a good nights sleep is not only mandatory, but positively necessary! Too many long days combined with not enough sleep can spell disaster for any writer or blogger.

So be kind to yourself and every now and then make a point of switching the computer off a couple of hours this side of midnight for a change and go to bed early! And I don’t mean go swich on the TV either – that’s almost as bad as staying in front of the computer (and a whole lot less productive).

Here’s to your continued good health and a good nights sleep every so often!

What keeps you going?

What makes you press on when things seem to be getting on top of you?

Sometimes, throughout our working day we hit certain blocks and have to sit back and simply close our eyes and chill for a few minutes before carrying on. I know that when I’ve been sitting here in front of this things for several hours writing furiously away a point is reached when I simply have to stop and get up and walk around. Maybe go into the garden and potter around for a while, or take the dogs out for a walk! Anything to take my mind off what I was doing long enough for the energy and enthusiasm to return.

Then it’s into the kitchen to make a cup of green tea and back to the familiar corner, into the well worn but comfy chair (so necessary when you spend most of the day in it) and straight back on the keypad and mouse!

Revived, revitalised and ready to carry on creating inspired and thought-provoking scribblings!

But what drives me on more than anything is the goal. My goal. To make this a completely self-sufficient business where I don’t have to rely on the odd offline job to make ends meet. To be in the position where my blogs and affiliate sites can make money consistently enough to call it a full time occupation. To that end, I’ll spend as many hours in front of this thing as it takes to get there.

So if you ever find yourself losing heart, or becoming impatient for things to start happening – take a break from the computer, clear your thoughts by doing something else for a while, then come back ready to pick up where you left off and keep your goal in mind.

Because the only way you’ll achieve it is to work for it.

Just remember to come up for air every once in a while!
