Yes, you all know the one. That Blogrush widget that everyone and his brother has added to their blog sidebars.

Does it really bring you traffic to your blog?

I’ve had it installed for a few days now and haven’t notice any appreciable increase in traffic, which is understandable as it’s early days yet. But I have my doubts as to its effectiveness for all but the most popular blogs who have such a large visitor-base that their widget is likely to get clicked on the most often.

The rest of us will be lucky to score more than a handful of clicks, so shouldn’t see too much in the way of extra visitors. In fact the more I think about it, the “many” will be working for the “few” - as ever. I mean that the majority of bloggers who have installed the widget (the many)will be driving traffic to the most popular blogs (the few) by the very fact that their popularity will guarantee them more views on the widget displayed on everyone’s blogs.

Mmmm.

Food for thought, eh? I for one will give this exercise a fair crack of the whip, but if I don’t start seeing some results soon, it goes in the bin!
